Personal Statement:
As a painter, living in Cambridge, I am surrounded by landscape which is at first sight less than stunning. However, the landscape is what I love and at the moment this is what I paint. I spent two years living in Oxfordshire and fell in love with the countryside around Wallingford and the Thames Valley. Inspired by the work of Paul Nash I spent many hours walking on Wittenham Clumps and the surrounding area. This landscape with its chalk hills, purity of line, vivid colour and other world beauty greatly affected me. I watched the moon rise and the light change and felt in touch with the Divine in a special way.
In my landscape paintings I attempt to convey this sense of excitement, wholeness and peace that I experienced. My abstract images are a symbolic dialogue running alongside, conveying the sensation of love, hope, joy and equilibrium.
Colour is a key part of my work as I am fascinated by how it can affect us, heal, restore and energise.
